Social Networking; A great resource or simply a waste of time?

It seems at every turn we are hearing about the “latest and greatest” place to network and build market reach on the Internet. Regardless of the size of your business, there are likely things you could be doing to increase your market reach, but knowing which is the best for your particular needs can be a daunting task.

Although some online methods are incredibly powerful, effective and necessary, others can be a complete waste of time and fall into the category of yet “just another passing fad.”

Why you need to give information away

I often receive inquiries from people who wonder how they can increase market reach, establish credibility and market trust. The easiest way to do this is to showcase your expertise.

There are a number of ways to do this. One of the most effective is by offering a free report, eBook or teleseminar. I find all three work exceptionally well if the quality of the offer is stellar.

The primary benefit of offering free information before you ever ask for a sale is three fold.

Don’t become a social networking snob!

“What is your favorite social networking group to use and why?”

I posted this question to my network on LinkedIn. To say I was somewhat shocked at the responses is an understatement. Although many people offered incredibly valuable information, many of the responders seemed a bit LinkedIn snobbish saying that things like Facebook, Twitter and other forms of social media are not for true professionals.

I completely disagree as do many of my colleagues who are masterfully utilizing their social media efforts.

Internet marketing – What does it take to succeed?

Not a day goes by that I don't get asked that question. The challenge is many people who ask the question, really don't want the answer. Rather, they want a magic bullet that will make them rich, famous, young and beautiful with no effort.

I've got news for you. It AIN'T gonna happen. Can you get rich and famous on the Internet? You bet.

Can you get young and beautiful with no effort? I don't know because my focus with my market is showing them how to build great market reach, visibility, credibility and multiple revenue streams by way of the Internet.

Social Networks – What not to do

There is a daily increase in the number of people utilizing Social Networks, Forums, Yahoo Groups, Google Groups and other areas where they can meet professionals to network with and do business with. Sadly, many people are crossing the line regarding online etiquette.
